While retail traders lose billions on memecoins, Pump Fun just pocketed $500 MILLION by weaponizing psychology against you. The manipulation goes deeper than you think 🧵👇
In UX design, 'dark patterns' are sneaky tactics that trick and manipulate users. In crypto launchpads, chaotic "bad" UX isn't a bug. It is intentional design to hack your mind and spark impulsive, high-stakes trading.
"pump fun" is insane because it appears to be one of the most legitimately dangerous apps with the potential to gigafry your brain but is exclusively used by literal turbonormies who unironically want to like "build generational wealth" and basically get oneshotted by it
This isn't accidental. Their homepage is intentionally chaotic: flashing boxes showing new buyers and memecoins every second, cluttered layouts, real-time trading data streaming constantly. All designed to create a dopamine frenzy.
But why does a platform raising almost a billion dollars look like trash? Because bad UX manufactures exclusivity. Polish implies mainstream adoption, killing the high-risk mystique that drives speculation.
The platform is flooded with millions of absurd tokens, creating an underground bazaar where navigating dysfunction feels thrilling. Confusing UX makes trading feel elite: a so-called "IQ filter" that rewards persistence with feelings of learned superiority.
This isn't accidental. Their homepage is intentionally chaotic: flashing boxes showing new buyers and memecoins every second, cluttered layouts, real-time trading data streaming constantly. All designed to create a dopamine frenzy.
Every design choice exploits psychological vulnerabilities: • Flashing price charts create urgency • Endless token feeds trigger FOMO • Real-time notifications ping like slot machines You're not early, you're just being manipulated.
Pump Fun has achieved systematic wealth extraction: • Fees extracted: $700M+ • ICO raise: $500M+ • 60%+ of users lose money (worse odds than blackjack) • 1,700+ wallets lost $100k+ each • 99.6% never profit above $10k • Only 0.0015% (mostly insiders) make $1M+
We built crypto to decentralize finance and remove predatory intermediaries. Instead, we've created more efficient extraction machines with less regulation & massively more immediate psychological manipulation than traditional finance ever achieved.
1 kilo of gold or $100,000 split across random @pumpdotfun coins? 🤔 😂 “ is a hell website, it is like staring into the abyss of the human spirit. I’m NOT kidding it makes me depressed for humanity….it is the endgame of a generation of financial nihilism… Just scammers scamming scammers.” - @Atrioc @a1lon9 @sapijiju $SOL #PumpDotFun $PUMP
This wasn't totally evident until their ICO announcement video. They used every manipulative video editing trick in the book: classic propaganda tactics, color psychology, "us/them" contrast, scale manipulation, symbolic imagery, emotion loops, etc. Don't get played.
